Eli Ridgway Gallery: No Touch - Jacqueline Kiyomi Gordon.
Comment by AB: The gallery looks impressive at first glance with
precise large-scale geometric bas reliefs lining the walls, but wait.
The bulk of the exhibition turns out to be little more than neatly cut
and framed panels of acoustic foam, several with insets. The remaining
artworks are comprised of various acoustic and soundproofing materials
as well. Those that incorporate actual sound emanating from
strategically positioned speakers are worth noting, but overall, if
you've ever been in a soundproof room or professional recording studio,
then what we have here becomes pretty much of a been-there-done-that
with a modest artistic twist.
